We had a visit from Sentinus today and enjoyed learning all about the pH scale and finding out about acids, alkalis and indicators. We tested a variety of substances with indicator solution to discover whether the substance was acidic, neutral or alkaline. The children enjoyed watching for colour changes and creating bubbling reactions. We also tested for starch content in a variety of food samples.
This morning we had a lovely Sentinus session where we looked at various materials to build some houses. We then tested the houses to see if we could blow them down by pretending to be the big bad wolf. Lots of the designs stayed standing and we were very impressed by all of the creations.
We used pegs and lollipop sticks for the stick house, play dough and straws for the straw house and Lego for the brick house.
What do you think of our creations?

P7's had a lovely day at the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh. We learnt a lot about the Great Famine. The way different people were living under very different circumstances, what they could eat, what their plans were and what school was like in the 1800's.
On Thursday 7th March P5D had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day. Have a look at the photos of the plates they decorated. It was such a difficult decision to pick the best dressed and also who had decorated the winning plate. Congratulations to the girls who were picked by Mrs Giffin and Mrs Eakin.
