Thanks to all of you who donated to this charity before Christmas. On Friday 17th December we all wore our Christmas jumpers or festive outfits.
We raised a phenomenal £735.40 so many thanks. The cheque was handed over this morning to Rebecca who came into school to represent this very worthy charity.
To celebrate World Book Day all classes were asked to decorate their classroom door with their favourite books. In P1T/A we have been learning about Fairy Tales so each table group set about working on a fairy tale they enjoyed. Have a look at the children's enjoyment while taking part in this project. All their hard work paid off as we were awarded 1st Prize by members of the Board of Governors who were visiting school today. We are all delighted and thank you.
The children used a variety of materials to make their very colourful wooden spoon puppets. During WAU the children learned that many years ago, before TV, IPads, cinemas etc Puppet shows were a source of entertainment for children and their families.
We are using our phonic skills to make 3 letter words while playing different games.
Today the children had an opportunity to showcase the junk art toys they had made. The children talked about the materials they had used and explained how they joined together the different materials using glue and cellotape. They took photographs of each other while sitting on the 'Hot Seat' and we all enjoyed listening too and seeing each others fabulous toys.
We visited Armagh Toy Museum this morning. As we have been learning about toys, we were able to answer lots of the questions about the old toys and try out some of the old toys we hadn’t seen before. We also were able to make our own peg aeroplane or peg doll to take home to play with. Our favourite part of the trip was playing with all the old toys together.
The children are enjoying activities and developing their skills and knowledge relating to our topic of learning this term which is all about Toys (old and new).
We have been shaking off all the dust after Christmas in our P.E. Session and learning a new dance routine.
Today the children were talking about and describing their favourite toy. We also discussed how their favourite choice of toys has changed as they have grown older. We used these toys to serve as inspiration for their observational drawings.
