Good school attendance is imperative if pupils are to make the progress which they have the potential for.  At Hart Memorial, attendance is monitored by our Vice-Principal, Mrs White, in collaboration with the Education Welfare Service.
If your child is off, you MUST provide us with a reason why - as a school, we have a duty to know reasons for absence and monitor these.
Your pupil must only be off for a valid reason - sickness, appointment, something agreed with Principal/ Vice-Principal etc.
When monitoring attendance, the following flowcharts come into play.  Please read them carefully to understand your role alongside the role of school staff.

Thank you.

A Wonderful Moment for Our School Community!

Yesterday, we were delighted to present a cheque for £195 to our Charity of the Year – Children’s Kidney Fund NI. This fantastic total was raised during our Christmas Party/Disco Day, and we couldn’t be more thankful! 🎄💃🕺

Our School Council chose this charity because of its special significance within our school community. In the past year, one of our own pupils benefited from a successful kidney transplant, making this cause especially meaningful and close to our hearts. ❤️

We have pledged to continue supporting Children’s Kidney Fund NI throughout the year, and we look forward to making an even greater impact together.

Thank you to everyone who contributed — your kindness truly makes a difference! 🌟🙌

19th Dec 2025
From January, the cost of school meals is increasing.  The Education Authority have set the increase to try and combat their shortfall in funding.
The new costs will be as follows:

Nursery - £3.00 per day - £15 per week
Primary - £3.10 per day - £15.50 per week

School Money should be updated to reflect these increases.

🎭 Hart Memorial Primary School Presents: “The Opposites” 🎭
Today, Friday 12th December, our amazing staff took to the stage for a hilarious Christmas pantomime full of surprises, magic, and festive fun!

From strict rules to total chaos, from neat freaks to party animals – the staffroom has never looked like this before! Mischievous elves turned everything upside down, even Santa got involved (and almost cancelled Christmas 😱).

Thankfully, with a little help from our Chief Elf and the children, the magic was reversed and Christmas was saved! 🎅✨

A huge thank you to all our talented staff for bringing so much laughter and joy to the school today. 💫

📸 Check out the highlights below and let us know your favorite moment in the comments! 👇

As a school, we have been working very hard to formulate our three year plan which will help us to further improve both the learning experiences, and personal development of the pupils in our care.   In schools, this plan is known as the School Development Plan.
To help prepare this document, throughout the academic year 2024-2025, all stakeholders were surveyed on their views regarding our school and we were delighted with these results.  From all of the data gathered, a plan was then devised to help us realise further improvement.
The targets for this school year are shown below.
As things progress, we will update you.

1st Oct 2025

Today, Thursday 2nd October 2025, marks the 90th anniversary, to the day, of Sir Robert Hart Memorial Primary School opening its doors to pupils in Portadown.  As a school, we are extremely proud of the impact which the Hart has had on so many throughout its 90 years, and the education which has been afforded to so many in our locality.

Historically, the Hart was an amalgamation of several local schools: Edgarstown No. 1 Academy (a Church of Ireland school in Montague Street), Edgarstown 2 (a Methodist school), Academy school (a Presbyterian School in Church Street), and the senior pupils of Park Road School (a Church of Ireland school). Forwarding on 90 years, the school continues to go from strength to strength with an enrolment of 450 pupils strong!

As a staff, it is our vision that the Hart continues to live out the characteristics attributed to the man who we are named after: a man who was known as ambitious, enthusiastic and exceptionally talented.  We are very proud of our school, our pupils are very proud, and we know that so many of you in our community are very proud!

Happy birthday, Sir Robert Hart Memorial!  Here’s to the next 90 years!

Back in June, 2 of our pupils who take guitar lessons through school sat their first exam. We are pleased to tell you that both pupils score in the 90's and were awarded distinctions - a superb achievement and testament to their hard work and dedication! Tomorrow, Friday 5th September, we will be gauging interest for new pupils from P5-7 to take lessons - if this is something your child would be interested in, please do ensure you sign up!
