This morning, members of the Confucius Institute from the University of Ulster, came into visit P7T and P7MM to help our classes learn all about Chinese New Year. February 1st is the beginning of Chinese New Year, and this year is the year of the Tiger. Pupils were treated to costume dress up including a Panda outfit and a Dragon. They learned all about the origins of the Chinese New Year, learning about Nian the Dragon, and how he was scared away by the couloir red, loud noises and fire. Pupils loved learning about the tale, and were also treated to some traditional Chinese music. A truly wonderful moment that captivated the entire room. To end the workshop, pupils coloured in and designed their own traditional Chinese Opera masks. They loved asking questions and learning all about Chinese culture.
