Our WAU topic this term has been ‘Our Senses’ and the children have enjoyed learning about how important our senses are for perceiving the world around us. We have investigated our sense of smell and taste recently and also had great fun watching sound waves from a tuning fork make water splash.

We had lots of fun building bridges with Emma and Emily from W5 this morning. The challenge was to build a bridge of around 50cm long out of k'nex that would withstand a weight of 20N. It got a bit competitive at times but all groups did a great job!

Today we made Easter Bunny masks from paper plates, straws, card and other materials. Everyone’s mask was very different and we enjoyed modelling them before taking them home. It was very hard to work out who was behind each bunny!

This morning Years 4-7 enjoyed a special Easter Assembly at which the choir sang. Their performance of Any Dream Will Do, We Sing Hosanna and Good Friday we’re enjoyed by the staff and children and by their friends and family who also attended. Canon Adair gave a short address after on the theme of Easter. We all had a lovely morning.

Today we enjoyed planting broad beans as part of our Spring WAU topic. We also linked this with the story ‘Jack and the beanstalk’.

This month in Nursery has been very busy. We have become proud parents and have learned lots about how to look after our chicks. We have been developing our communication skills and our ability to work together.

  • Look at all the learning that has been taking place. We have been working together, developing our fine motor skills and persevering to complete an activity. This month we have even had little chicks in our class, such an exciting time and we had to very patient waiting for them to hatch!
