Today we enjoyed a trip to watch the Ulster Orchestra perform a special schools’ concert in the Waterfront Hall in Belfast. This was a fantastic opportunity to hear live music and the children thoroughly enjoyed it. We were introduced to the different sections of the orchestra and listened to music based on the theme of ‘Our Wonderful World’. The children’s favourite piece was ‘The Bare Necessities’ and the percussion section playing on Dustbins and saucepans was also enjoyed by all. We also joined in at the end of the concert to sing the classic song, ‘ What a Wonderful World’.  Unfortunately recording and photography was not allowed during the performance but here are a few pictures of our day out.

We have been taking part in lots of activities this week, for Road Safety Week.

We have been learning the importance of being dressed brightly so motorists can see us, especially in these darker evenings.

We took a walk outside to remind ourselves of how to cross the road at the lights, safely.

Don’t we all look amazing in our hi-vis vests?

We read the book ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Can You See?’ during Literacy.  This was an absolute favourite of ours so far this year so we made lovely brown bear paintings using forks. Watch out for our next piece of art and try and guess what we have used.

P3WA have impressed again with all of the certificates they have earned in Mathletics!

This week we have been doing some super climbing, sliding, rolling and general core skills in gymnastics. We have also been celebrating birthdays as part of our topic and using this theme in our Activity Based Learning.
In Art we have been making lines; exploring making thick and thin, heavy and light to prepare us for drawing. Keep an eye out each week as we update our Art progress with you!

She reminded us of the importance of showing kindness to others, and talked about the positive ripple effect of an act of kindness.
