Peter from Sentinus visited both P5 classes today and he spoke to the children about the different types of renewable energy. They then got the opportunity to build and create using card, paper, glue and tape a device that could use solar energy to make electricity. Here are some photos to show them working in groups.

P7MM and P7L started their week with a Sentinus Activity delivered by Peter. We were tasked to design and build bridges using paper and masking tape. Our bridges were tested for strength using 5-10 litres of water attached to the bridge by a hook. Some very creative designs and great team work.

P5D are working hard this half term to design and make an iMovie linked to the WAU topic  ‘Energy Sources’. As part of the WAU topic they have been looking at how we can save energy both in school and at home. On a planning board P5 worked in groups to plan what they would record, who would record it and what they would say. Once the planning boards were complete they have started to record in various locations around school. When all recordings are compete they are now able to start creating the iMovie. Here are some photos to show what they have been doing.

Another full week of learning for P3! In Personal Development and Mutul Understanding we thought about safety and the sorts of things that were and weren't safe. It was really lovely to hear that all of the children could think of lots of people they feel safe with. In Numeracy, we continued to investigate number sequences including number bonds in teams. In Literacy, we thought about how we structure our sentences and what punctuation we might need. In Art we recapped our learning from last Friday, about the Russian painter, Wassily Kandinsky. This Friday we continued our own versions of 'Squares with Concentric Circles'. Wow, we did loads and that wasn't even it all!

We thoroughly enjoyed our first Shared Education session this week. With our friends from Presentation, we furthered our study of this term’s World Around Us topic, World War 2. The children learnt about the Belfast Blitz and how it affected the families living in our capital city in 1941. They also made Models of Anderson Shelters and their efforts were fabulous as you can see from the photos. The children really enjoyed working together and renewing their friendships. We look forward to our next lesson when we will be learning more about Evacuation and Evacuees.
