This week children explored number ordering with teddies, caterpillars and the written order. We also love keeping score in our beanbag tossing game. Children loved our very first science experiment where minibeasts spread pollen from flower to flower. We also learnt some fantastic facts in ICT using a search engine to discover things like, spiders have blue blood and Bee's can't see the colour red! Children also learnt some new sign language and some great new signs about minibeasts too!

We were very fortunate to have Laurence Bellew from Hope Community Church, Craigavon speaking to us in assembly this morning. He spoke about the importance of having a ‘FLIP’ attitude and knowing how special we are to God, no matter what negativity we hear. We really enjoyed his singing!

On Wednesday 18th September, Hart Memorial PS and Presentation PS hosted a coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan. This was done during Good Relations Week, which runs from the 16th September to 22nd September. It was the first event for both schools as part of the Shared Education programme for this academic year. It was held in the Millennium Court in Portadown. Parents, friends, governors and Principals from both schools came to this wonderful event as well as people and businesses from the local area. Barclays Bank and Healthy Kidz staff came to show their support, which was great. A huge thanks to Portadown Credit Union for their very generous donation to Macmillan. A lovely sense of community was felt throughout the morning.

A wide variety of sweet treats were available for people to enjoy as well as tea, coffee and juice.

Both schools would like to thank the following for their help and support in order to make the coffee morning such a wonderful success -

  • Rhiannon’s Cake and Bakes for providing the most amazing and super tasty traybakes and cupcakes!
  • Kitchen Bakes, Portadown for the great selection of traybakes, they were thoroughly enjoyed.
  • Asda, Portadown for the biscuits and gluten free treats.
  • P & G, Portadown for the tea, coffee, milk and sugar.
  • Knox & Sons Food Court for the buns and cakes.
  • Just Desserts and Pastries for the delicious traybakes.
  • Also, a big thanks to the Millennium Court in Portadown who allowed the schools to use their amazing building to host the event. A huge thank you from both schools for allowing this. The staff were amazing and couldn’t have done enough to help.

The total amount of money raised was £500.09. Thank you to everyone for all of the donations.
