In class, we created Dancing Dragons. These are smaller versions of what you would see during the parades in China when celebrating the New Year.
In Literacy we have been completing comprehension questions on bears, sorting words into alphabetical order and making sure our letters are formed correctly. We are working hard in Numeracy lessons looking at ways to make 8 and 9 using cubes. We have really enjoyed learning all about Henri Matisse in Art and made a collage picture in his style with brightly coloured shapes. We also made pop up cards during structured play to say thankyou to Mr Frizzell for coming to our class. During our internet safety lessons we were able look out for scams!
This morning we enjoyed a visit by Orla from Young Enterprise. During our session, we discussed what makes up our community, other facilities we might like to have in our community and the important people and jobs that add to our community. We also learned how important our taxes are in paying for the services we take for granted such as medical care, education, rubbish collections, leisure centres, etc. We finished off the session by working in groups to design our own communities and what we’d like in them. The children thoroughly enjoyed their morning.
Today the children explored the themes of self esteem and self expression. The boys and girls looked at ways to boost their self esteem and were encouraged to look for the positives in all situations. The children also discussed how to understand their emotions and to express their feelings to others in a healthy and positive way.
We were delighted to have Laurence from Hope Community Church again today, to lead our assembly. He spoke about: Contentment, Respect, Gratitude and Kindness.
Some of the P7 Digital leaders also spoke to us as part of our Safer Internet Day work that has been happening all week.
They talked about online scams, how to spot them and what to do.
