Today we experimented with using our senses at 5 different stations set up around our classroom. We used our sense of taste to find out if food was sweet, bitter or sour. We used our sense of smell to guess a selection of scents such as vanilla, lemon, peppermint etc. We used our sense of touch to explore whether objects were smooth, rough, hard, soft, cold etc. We used our sense of hearing to explore making loud/soft and fast/slow music with our instruments. Finally, at our sight station, we played a game of find the snowballs while blindfolded, to help us appreciate how much we rely on our sight. The boys and girls had great fun and demonstrated their knowledge at the end of our lesson, within our class discussion.
Our Global Learning sessions of our topic involved us exploring different houses around the world. We looked at the shapes of other houses and the materials used to build, before comparing them to ours. We were able to find similarities and differences.
Mrs Heare spoke to both classes about her time in Burma and showed us pictures of the houses she saw there. Some were very different to our houses!
