When out on a Spring walk around school we looked at the beautiful flowers beginning to grow and some of them smelt lovely. We then made our own lavender scented play dough using lavender leaves. We manipulated the dough in different ways to make flowers for a flower garden.
We had lots of fun making a gift for our Mummy for Mother’s Day. We decorated a jam jar with tissue paper and sparkly gems, carefully drew a picture for a gift tag and then chose some flowers to put into our lovely vase just for our Mummy. We were very excited to give it to her as she is so good to us and very special.
One of the children brought in some special hens eggs from the farm for us to look after. We very carefully put them in an incubator. The incubator keeps the eggs nice and warm and turns them just like Mummy hen as the little chick grows inside. We have a calendar and are counting down the sleeps until the chicks hatch. It is very exciting and we can’t wait!
We had fun making pancakes. We cracked eggs, added flour and milk, gave it a stir, popped it in the pan and Mrs Handy flipped it and caught it! We then enjoyed them for our snack.
Most after school activities finish today, Friday 29 March 2019. If a club or a booster programme has additional sessions next week or the one after, you will have been informed by the leader in writing.
The term 3 after school activities timetable will be out straight after the Easter holidays, with clubs recommencing on Wednesday 8 May 2019.
The eggs in our incubator are going to turn into chicks and daily we are looking at how they are developing using our ‘pretend’ life cycle set... but... what is inside the eggs you can eat?
We had a busy morning learning about the shell, the yolk and the white of an egg. We discussed what we could cook or make with eggs and finished of by making scrambled eggs and toast for snack. There were lots of helpers to crack the eggs, whisk the eggs, add a little milk before we finally got to eat them.
The experience was summed up perfectly by one child who commented “This is the best snack EVER”!
P3 had such an exciting time making their own recycled bird feeders to help look, after our garden birds at school!
