The children enjoy problem solving using the Izak 9 cubes. A fantastic Numeracy resource.
A group of six P7 pupils from both classes travelled to The Royal School, Armagh on Wednesday 20th March to compete in a STEM challenge (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics). Their challenge was to create a vehicle that would be expected to transport a load (a creme egg!!) safely down a ramp and a certain distance across the floor. The children were given a selection of materials to build their vehicle and had to design three potential vehicles before deciding on their final design. Although we didn’t win the challenge, both teams were successful in designing and building a vehicle that met the criteria of the challenge, and most importantly, they had lots of fun using their problem solving skills during the challenge. Well done P7s!
We really enjoy feeding our feathered friends. They really enjoy the fat balls and mixed bird seed we put out for them. there are lots of different birds who call our school grounds home, including robins, blackbirds and lots of sparrows.
Blooming Harts took part in the Big Spring Clean Up by having a litter pick around the school.
During Science Week the children listened to the story, Jack and the Bean Stalk and we decided to plant some beans ourselves. Over the coming weeks we will be watching and watering them to see what happens. We also worked in groups to solve a problem for the Gingerbread Man. In our story the poor Gingerbread Man was eaten by the greedy fox. But if the Gingerbread Man had a bridge built accross the river he could cross safely. Have a look at our super efforts.
What a great morning of fitness and fun we had together, thank you all for coming and taking part!
