From decorating our Tree, wrapping presents, writing our Santa letters and cards to making Christmas drinks, Christmas dinner, salt dough decorations and Christmas stars.
What a busy month it has been!
We enjoyed playing lots of party games, party food and had a special visit from Santa!
We welcomed a very special guest back into school this afternoon - Mrs Brown! P4-7 took part in a farewell assembly for her during which, Mrs Brown’s last three classes, P5P, P6M and P7T performed songs and poems. The choir also sang beautifully during the assembly and we finished it off with some beautiful festive singing from everyone! Miss Shipley spoke about how much we all missed Mrs Brown and read a lovely poem she had written for her. Three of her pupils from her final P4 class presented her with a card and some flowers from everyone at the Hart.
The children have been so excited this month and have had lots of fun participating in many activities. Have a look at what we have been getting up to. We used clay to make a Christmas hedgehog and we used lots of skills - cutting, sticking and making a paper chain beard for Santa. Our technology challenge was to make and decorate a Christmas stocking with an adult. Some super designs! We also had a fantastic day during our trip to the Navan Centre enjoying the play, story telling, craft activity and meeting Santa himself. Today we took part in our school Nativity and we loved dressing up and singing on the stage. Wishing everyone a Very Happy Christmas.
On Tuesday 17th December, P7MM thoroughly enjoyed a whole day of technology. The children worked in pairs, or groups of three, and could decide whether they wanted to complete a project relating to Rainforests or the Titanic; both topics that we have studied during Term 1.
Rainforest Technology
The aim of this project was to build a rainforest inside a shoebox. We learned over the course of the topic about the different layers in the rainforest as well as the plants and animals that live there. We used this information to help us choose the colours and animals for inside our shoe box. We had to carefully use tabs to place our trees in position and stabilise them using hot glue guns. We were so pleased with the results - have a look at the photos below to see for yourself!
Titanic Technology
The children who chose to complete a technology project on the Titanic were tasked with creating a model of the Harland and Wolff cranes that famously helped to build the Titanic. The first step was to paint everything yellow, including the tables, floor and even some of our uniforms!! The children then used some problem solving skills to create the different component, ensuring they fitted together. The final aspect of the project was to fit the pulley and hook. Again, we were delighted with the results - take a look below!
19 pupils from both P7 classes visited Lismore Comprehensive at the start of December. The children had a great morning’s fun, and got a real taste for what life will be like next year at post primary school, wherever they decide to go. The children took part in a coding activity in the ICT room, a drama activity, and finished off with a quiz in the hall.
