We enjoyed a range of fine and gross motor activities both indoors and outdoors with a member of our family. The challenge was to beat the clock and complete the activities to achieve the highest number of turns possible. We know how important physical activity is and have been learning that children can have fun, grow and develop with the everyday resources and equipment around the house. Even on a cold, frosty morning getting out into the fresh air lifted our spirits and it didn’t take us too long to warm up when we got into our activities. Well done to everyone who came along!

P7 spent part of the last day of a busy first half term creating some marvellous interpretations of a fireworks display. On black sugar paper, children used dry pastels to mimic a firework exploding in the night sky. This was an opportunity to be creative, to be artistic and to use their imagination creating bold lines or faint strokes. P7 were fantastic taking part in this activity and created very effective and striking pieces of art at the end. Great job P7

The children had great fun planning and making their very own picture frame. A project which involved literacy, (planning) Numeracy (measuring) and technology (cutting and gluing the pieces of wood). They demonstrated great team work and problem solving skills working together to fix any mistakes. Their frames are looking fantastic and will be a great new display at home.

We had good fun outside brushing up and collecting all the Autumn Leaves which had fallen down. After brushing them into a pile we noticed there were red, yellow, brown and green leaves in the pile which were all different shapes and sizes. As we know a song about Autumn leaves we sang our rhyme and then took turns to jump in! The leaves sounded crunchy and rustled beneath our feet!

It was lovely to have our parents come to Nursery and stay to read books to their children during our book fair. We enjoyed reading new stories as well as snuggling in to a few familiar reads. The importance of sharing books and fostering an interest in books to support the development of each child is widely recognised. We know that through our ‘Big Bedtime Read’ programme our Nursery children will have access to many books and stories throughout the year.

We have had lots of fun learning about Autumn this month. We have been busy naming, chopping and tasting a variety of fruit and vegetables, exploring a variety of natural materials gathered from the outdoor environment and enjoying topical activities in the lead up to Halloween.

We have enjoyed learning all about Autumn.  We have collected lots of different colours and shapes of leaves, brown conkers and spiky fir cones.  We have also been learning about fruit and vegetables and have had fun printing with them.  For one of our healthy snacks we had vegetable sticks and dips.  Outside we have been very busy brushing up the leaves in the Nursery garden and made a big leaf pile, then had lots of fun counting 1,2,3 and jumping in making the leaves go crunch! We carved out a pumpkin and then mixed yellow and red paint together to make orange so we could paint our own pumpkin pictures.  Have a look to see all the other fun things we have got up to.
