Primary 7 were joined by the IFA’s Chris Wright for a very relevant and important workshop called ‘Give Racism the Red Card’. Children learned about the causes and consequences of Racism and to be empowered about Racism. Today gives us the opportunity to help the children know that Racism is wrong, is hurtful and is completely unneeded. At the Hart Memorial, we aim to prepare pupils to be part of a multi-cultural world and today’s workshop is another helpful way towards that. Many thanks to Chris for an excellent workshop.
Last week was B, this week was A. The kids love it! They also got singing the song Happy, and again really enjoyed it.
During play based learning we have been engaging in lots of fun activites relating to our topic.
It was fun going for a walk today to look for signs of Autumn. We noticed that leaves are falling off the trees and changing colour to orange, yellow, red and brown. We saw apples and pears on the trees, berries on bushes and we found sycamore seeds which had fallen off the trees. We worked in groups, used Ipads to record our experience and we added what we found during our walk to our Investigation area.
Primary 7 love doing art - and this term - we’ve been looking at the influences of Henri Rousseau, the French Artist. Rousseau focused on overlapping in his paintings- and always creating a focal point. Rousseau liked bright colours and things to stand out too. He was obsessed with jungle drawings, despite never ever setting foot in one. This was exactly what P7T achieved through their Toucans in the Rainforest. Have a look at their wonderful creations. Well done to Dani, Jack and Megan who were the top 3 artists in the class. Congrats!
Primary 7 pupils showed great communication skills and effective problem solving skills by participating gladly in memory games, as well as showing some fantastic numeracy skills. A really fun and interactive lesson.
The children very kindly shared their hopes and dreams for the future with their teacher and classmates. Mrs McLeod believes in each child and knows that they can all achieve their dreams with hard work and determination. Remember us all at the Hart when you’ re rich and famous boys and girls!🤗.
The children participate in one 30 minute Healthy Kidz session every Wednesday. They focus on developing their speed, agility, balance, flexibility and strength through structured activity stations. They also focus on running a Killer K marked out circuit twice a week to develop their stamina and enjoyment of physical activity💪🏃🏃♀️.
As part of instructions some lucky children had the very special treat of making themselves toast. They then used Pic Collage on the iPad to present their picture and written instructions on how to make this.
