As part of instructions some lucky children had the very special treat of making themselves toast.  They then used Pic Collage on the iPad to present their picture and written instructions on how to make this.

P6M have really enjoyed learning about the Vikings as part of their World Around Us this term.  They created their own fantastic vicious Viking character during art. Well done P6!😉👏👍

This year, Healthy Kidz have introduced a new initiative, The Killer K, to replace The Golden Mile. To make it even more exciting, the children were provided with GPS Tracker Vests to record their times for running one Kilometre. P5P were naturally very excited to be the first to wear these Vests and recorded improved times. This will take place every Friday and gives each child a great opportunity to improve both their fitness and their running skills.

P7MM have been lucky enough to have been picked to take part in the Poetry In Motion project this year. This involves a published poet, Martell McPartland, coming into our classroom and helping us to get our creative juices flowing!! The start of this process was a trip to Long Meadow Farm on the Loughgall Road this morning. Here, we were given a tour of the orchard, the warehouse and the cold store. Catherine and Pat, the owners of the farm, really made us feel welcome and explained everything in great detail to us. We saw where the apples are pressed, where they are stored, or ‘put to sleep’, for winter, where the apple cider vinegar is made, and we even got to pick and eat our own apples - the nicest we had ever tasted! The orchard provided us with fantastic ideas and will hopefully provide enough inspiration for us to write excellent poems over the next couple of weeks. We can’t wait to get started!

P7 Teggarty throughly enjoy their music lessons - they get into the spirit of the instrument and singing very quickly. Today, we used our recorders for the first time learning about the note ‘B’. This involved knowing how to hold the recorder and how to play the note correctly (by covering the holes effectively). Pupils concentrated very well and showed great focus - having a lot of fun in the process. Children will learn one note a week until we are confident in our playing before playing a full song. As you can see from the videos, they did very well.

Our class have had a great start to Shared Education this year, with already four trips to St John the Baptist's College to meet our friends from Presentation Primary School under our belt. We have looked at the themes of culture, identity, perceptions and prejudices, and we have learned that, while we are all different, we really are very similar in many many ways. The finale of our CRED lessons saw all four P7 classes from the two schools join together at the YMCA centre in Portadown to create their own masks which celebrate their own identity and culture. There was a real community feel on the day and we hope the children enjoyed it.

On Monday 7th October, P7 Teggarty and P7 McNally spent the morning at the YMCA in Portadown to conclude our CRED lessons with our shared partners in Presentation Primary. We had a great time with P7 Ryan and P7 Fox in creating our individual artistic masks reflecting our cultures, traditions and personalities. Children had time to draw and colour symbols upon a mask template to show who they are. A wonderful morning was had by all - there was a great atmosphere amongst the pupils with the end result being one that the children can be proud of. Many thanks to the YMCA for letting us use their superb facilities. A great time had by all.

We had a very special visitor in P5DK today who had travelled back in time from Ancient Egypt. Tuti had a wonderful morning showing all the children lots of interesting artefacts and teaching them all about life during Ancient Egyptian times. Here are some photos for you to see what they did.

The boys and girls in P7MM had a great day on Wednesday 2nd October when they spent the day rehearsing their Rainfroest play before performing it for P4-7 that afternoon. They worked so hard all morning; contributing to the script, rehearsing, editing amd rehearsing again and again. Well done to all of them!
