Today was 'International Day of Play'! Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states that every child has the right to play. Our boys and girls celebrated today by participating in the 'Play 31 Challenge'. That meant 31 extra minutes of play time. Each class was also set the challenge of getting creative and making the number 31 within play.

Yesterday, Tuesday 12th May, an impressive 245 children, staff, and parents took part in a special Walking Bus event to mark 'Walk, cycle or scoot to school.' Participants gathered at the school at 8:25am before setting off on a 10-minute route, collecting pupils at three designated points along the way.
The event ended on a high note as everyone returned to school to be greeted by a special visitor—Winnie the Pooh—much to the delight of all involved. Everyone who took part was presented with a special badge marking the walk to school week.
Tomorrow, we have our second walking bus of the week - we hope to see you there!

At school, we want the pupils to be as 'ready to learn' as they can be! Lots of healthy habits can help with this - active playing outdoors, reading stories as a family, avoiding too much device use, and of course, getting good sleep!
The Department of Education NI has released the following image which gives some advice on how many hours of sleep are required for each age group, and things to avoid before bed. Getting plenty of good quality sleep can really help your child with their learning!
