P7 spent their Friday performing poetry in the classroom. We discussed about the importance of tone, volume, facial expressions and enthusiasm. I was delighted with the response. The class did really well.

Karen from the  RSPB came to visit us in Nursery to support us in our topic of Winter. Over the past week we have been busy making bird feeders and bird food which we have hung out to feed the birds when they are struggling to find food. It has been very exciting birdwatching to see which birds visit our Nursery. We saw a robin, a black bird and a chaffinch feeding at our ‘home made’ feeders.

We helped Karen to make a garden mat as she told us a story about what makes a good garden and about the important role birds have to play in our gardens. We can’t wait to see what other birds might visit in the next few weeks!

We had a lovely visit from Karen from the RSPB who told us about lots of different birds who visit our gardens, how we can help them and what food we can put out for them during the winter. We also went outside to see what birds we could spot in our Nursery garden. We were very excited when a little Robin Redbreast flew down to say hello and enjoy the bird food we had made and put out for them.

Karen Sheil from RSPB spoke to us on Thursday. She talked to us about recognising birds and explained how we can help birds to survive and make life easier. We went outside to see if we could spot any birds. We were amazed at how many different types we saw - rooks, black-headed gulls, wood pigeons, starlings, magpies and the chaffinch. She was very impressed with the work the Eco committee has done around the school to encourage birds and wildlife. Karen answered so many questions and it was such an interesting talk!

This half term P5DK have been learning about electricity and energy sources in WAU. They have studied different types of lighthouses and had a go a drawing and sketching them. When they were happy with their drawing they used watercolour pencils to colour the lighthouse and background. Here are some photographs to show what they did.
