As part of World Book Day celebrations, all classes have been asked to decorate their classroom door with their favourite book.
P3F discussed at length and decided on Horrid Henry. We then got to work!

As you can see, imaginations ran wild and the children came up with some wonderful and equally disgusting ideas!! Perfect for Horrid Henry.
😂🕷⚽️🦠👦🏻

Good work everyone!

P7T had a brilliant morning participating at the Portadown Speech Festival at the Town Hall. Pupils were excited this morning to take part, and compete. They did not disappoint. The P7s were excellent- in their behaviour, attitude and conduct. I was a very proud teacher this morning because I thought the children rose to the occasion expertly and I was very happy with their efforts. The first poem performed was “Wouldn’t it be funny, if you didn’t have a nose” by Roger McGough, and the second was “Please, Mrs Butler” by Allen Ahlberg. Pupils spoke with great clarity, enthusiasm and tone - I was absolutely delighted with how they got on. Even though, we did not win the UTU cup, I thought all pupils were winners. Their proud faces displaying their silver medals made it all worth while. All pupils thoroughly enjoyed their morning - a great and memorable experience for all involved. A very happy teacher today!

An afternoon was spent in Class making electrical circuits using batteries, bulbs, crocodile clips and a variety of buzzers, switches and propellers. It was a very interesting hands on learning experience for everyone in P5P.

On Tuesday 3rd March, we visited the Ulster American Folk Park as part of our famine topic. During the trip we heard about the stories of the characters in Under the Hawthorne Tree, our class novel, and how they coped with the famine. We saw what it would a typical house and school house would have been like in 1845. We also walked through a typical Irish village with shop fronts. We then took a journey to the New World, America, on a ship and experienced what life would have been like there. All in all, a great day!
