May brought minibeast madness to our room. We studied and discussed ladybirds, bumblebees, wasps, spiders, beetles, worms, snails and slugs. We really enjoyed our minibeast hunt and found lots hiding in dark, damp places around our playground. We created some beautiful artwork including snails and their trails and beautiful butterflies.  We have also really enjoyed role playing with the dolls in our home corner and realised that there were no dolls left to push in the proms and play with outside so we decided to make some ‘bottle babies’. We collected empty plastic bottles and filled them with water, paint and glitter then glued the tops on and stuck on some eyes. We shook the bottles and were mesmerised by the beautiful patterns the paint made as it swirled around and mixed with the glistening, floating glitter! We have had so much fun playing with them and have been very imaginative in how we have used them in our play!  Enjoy looking through the photographs to see all of the fun we have had.

May brought minibeast madness to our room. We studied and discussed ladybirds, bumblebees, wasps, spiders, beetles, worms, snails and slugs. We really enjoyed our minibeast hunt and found lots hiding in dark, damp places around our playground. We discovered that Miss Lindsay is very brave when it comes to handling large spiders; Mrs Flavelle, not so much! We created some beautiful artwork showing snails and their trails and lots of different minibeasts. Just look at the delight on our faces when completing butterfly paintings!
Our favourite story this month was “The Hungry Caterpillar”. We are all able to discuss and explain the lifecycle of a butterfly!  Feel free to come and ask us!
