Today children used Adobe Creative Cloud Express to generate imaginative and fun AI images of minibeasts! We had lots of fun creating, discussing and sharing these images. We hope you do too!
September was a month full of exciting learning and exploration! We celebrated our Mathletics and Healthy Kidz certificate winners and birthdays, bringing joy to our classroom. The children enjoyed an alphabet scavenger hunt and a mini beast hunt. In ICT, we used JIT Paint and Mix to create digital art and presentations about mini beasts. Children developed our communication skills through talking partners and group work in numeracy. Things got a bit whiffy as we measured our shoes! Children explored non-fiction books from the library to find interesting facts, studied and drew mini beasts with pastels, and even had their own art gallery viewing session. In literacy, children followed instructions to make a jam sandwich! We even found time to get creative with natural materials. Can you spot which mini beasts we have made?
It is hard to believe that the new academic year is just around the corner! I hope that everyone has had a super, restful break, and is ready to begin a new school year.
In preparation for coming back, please be reminded of some arrangements for the new school year.
Back to School
Pupils from P2-7 return to school on Wednesday 28th August; they will finish on this day at 12noon. This will be the case for Thursday 29th August and Friday 30th August. Pupils should have a healthy snack with them on these days. There will be no school dinners on these days.
Full school days, with school dinners, will begin on Monday 2nd September. Arrangements for Nursery and Primary 1 children are different and have been shared separately – please contact the class teacher if you are unsure of anything.
Meet the Teacher
This year, we are changing the format of our ‘meet the teacher event.’ On Thursday 29th August, parents are invited into school from 12:30pm to 2:30pm to go and meet their child/ren’s new teacher. Teachers will be in their rooms, with a handout regarding key information about their class, and parents are welcome to visit and collect this/meet with the teacher. This will be an informal, drop-in event and parents are welcome to arrive at any time.
Uniform
Please ensure that your child is in the correct school uniform for their first day.
Our school uniform can be purchased from local suppliers including, C&G Embroidery, Jameson’s and Davidson’s. Please ensure that all items of clothing have the pupil’s name.
The uniform is the same for both boys and girls:

Black tracksuit bottoms (sweatshirt material with cuffed legs)
Please note, bottoms must be plain black and should not have any branding or lines, except the school logo, if desired.
Bottoms with the school logo can be purchased from C&G Embroidery.
Yellow polo t-shirt with logo
Plain Black trainers
We had a great morning celebrating various achievements in P1-4.
Well done to all of our winners.

Thank you.
The roads around school are very busy at home times and there are lost of things which can distract drivers. It is vitally important that pupils do not add to this.
Please look at the following poster and discuss it with your child.
Remember, stop, look and listen!
This month, Irwin’s treated us to a selection of delicious breads. We enjoyed discussing and exploring the different textures and smells. They were all so tasty! Then, we became bread experts, writing non chronological reports about bread from around the world! iPads and highlighters were used to assist with our research. In music, we got creative with Chrome Music Maker, making songs to go with our very catchy bread song! In art, we explored with watercolours learning new techniques. In numeracy, we were busy problem solving and loved using mirrors to assist us with symmetry. As usual, we had loads of fun celebrating Mathletics, birthdays and Walk to School Week. Check out our photos to see all the fun we had.
