Latest News - Mrs Flavelle

27th Jan 2022

Thanks to all of you who donated to this charity before Christmas. On Friday 17th December we all wore our Christmas jumpers or festive outfits.
We raised a phenomenal £735.40 so many thanks. The cheque was handed over this morning to Rebecca who came into school to represent this very worthy charity.

May brought minibeast madness to our room. We studied and discussed ladybirds, bumblebees, wasps, spiders, beetles, worms, snails and slugs. We really enjoyed our minibeast hunt and found lots hiding in dark, damp places around our playground. We discovered that Miss Lindsay is very brave when it comes to handling large spiders; Mrs Flavelle, not so much! We created some beautiful artwork showing snails and their trails and lots of different minibeasts. Just look at the delight on our faces when completing butterfly paintings!
Our favourite story this month was “The Hungry Caterpillar”. We are all able to discuss and explain the lifecycle of a butterfly!  Feel free to come and ask us!

April brought a new topic of rainbows, fairytales and nursery rhymes!
We experimented with colour mixing to create beautiful rainbows. We really enjoyed reading fairytales, one of our favourites being The Three Little Pigs. As you can see, we were able to retell the story during our play and even made our own houses made of straw, sticks and bricks. We had lots of fun in our garden, sorting, cutting, hammering and planting beans- just like Jack and the Beanstalk! We re-enacted Incy Wincy Spider in the water area and Ten Green Bottles in the sand.
We ended our month with a non-uniform day, dressing up in all the different colours of the rainbow! Have a look through our photographs and see how many different colours you can find!

26th Mar 2021

This month we were all reunited! It was lovely to be back with our friends having fun and learning together. We found out all about Spring and enjoyed getting messy whilst planting seeds and finding out about all the beautiful flowers in our garden and local area. We held a special “Yellow and Green Day” in honour of Spring, which included a yellow and green snack! We celebrated Mother’s Day and talked about the special ladies in our lives. Children spent lots of time outside this month, watering our plants and looking after our garden. We talked about animals and their young, and can even name a few! We had great fun experimenting with different materials and stampers in the art area to make lambs and chicks. Children painted their own Easter egg, practised scissor skills whilst cutting out eggs and we found time to make our own delicious Easter buns!
We hope you enjoy browsing through the selection of photographs below.

1st Mar 2021

This month we have been finding out about people who help us in our community and how they help us. We drew pictures and made models with our adults of emergency vehicles. Children also had lots of fun with action songs and tongue twisters! We practised our fine and gross motor skills with lots of activities including pencil twirls, a dough disco, throwing and catching. We developed our counting skills by placing stamps on envelopes, taking part in a pattern hunt and identifying numbers in our environment. St. Valentine’s Day brought lots of fun with making cards, talking about people we love, baking and a Valentine Disco!
Have a look below at a selection of our learning whilst at home.

A little snippet of our Remote Learning during the month of January.

Children investigated with freezing and melting ice, created cold pictures, enjoyed bird-watching, discussed feelings and emotions, discovered different materials and the importance of recycling! Children also took part in lots of physical activities, independence tasks and lots of songs and rhymes! Everyone really enjoyed our Big Bedtime Read Week as part of Getting Ready to Learn. I hope you enjoy looking through our pictures and seeing all the fun your friends have got up to! πŸ˜ƒ

We have had lots of fun this month learning about bears and really enjoyed the stories “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” and “We’re going on a Bear Hunt”. We turned our role play area into the Three Bear’s Cottage and made porridge for our snack, which was “just right”, just like baby bears. We also had a bid adventure when we went on our very own bear hunt and we even found a friendly cuddly bear!
we made wheaten bread, learnt about big, middle sized and small and lots more. Have a look to see what fun we have had!
