P5D enjoyed a wonderful art workshop at the Armagh Museum that was run by Orlaith Cullinane. The children got to view the AE Russell exhibition and used it as inspiration to learn techniques to create their own 3D pop up artworks on the theme of ‘From the Sea’ using chalk pastels, paper folding and lots of imagination.
Congratulations to Emily. She was our walking, talking calculator and won the class prize.
We enjoyed our prize of some ‘down time’ and party food this afternoon.
This morning we had fun participating in fun physical number activities such as making human numbers, counting our skips and hula hoop spins, running to cones a given number of times and counting our jumping jacks etc.
Back in class, we enjoyed a carousel of math activities that helped to consolidate our learning in numeracy over the last few weeks, including pattern printing, pattern making with cubes, dice addition games and Beebot money activities.
We looked at compass points using IZAK9, ask us about norther, south, east and west. We also celebrated World Mathematics Day, we found mathematics in Art by exploring pointillism - look at our beautiful dot rainbows. We completed a Maths Quiz in teams and we investigated shape and number in our outside environment. Not to mention some fantastic number based costumes!

We have had lots of fun on World Maths Day. Our favourite activity was the outdoor number games.
