On Wednesday 27th November and Wednesday 4th December P5D have been working with the P5 children from Presentation PS. They spent one day at Hart Memorial and the other day at Presentation PS. The children started each session with ice breaker games, then throughout the day they completed Numeracy, Art, Zumba and ICT tasks together. During the day the children also got to enjoy both break and lunch eating and playing together.
P5D have enjoyed working in groups to create space mobiles. They had to measure a piece of wood, cut using a saw, glue using a hot glue gun and colour the planets. Then they had to arrange them in order.
P5D had lots of visitors to class this week. It started on Monday when Mr Frizzell was asked questions about road safety and parking outside the school. On Tuesday Ciara and Gwen from the PSNI and PCSP talked to the children about road safety, answered questions they had prepared and took the children out to the front of the school to measure the speed vehicles were travelling and looking at how vehicles were parked. On Wednesday the children used the iPads and took part in an Adobe live workshop to create road safety posters. By Thursday it was time to use all the information gathered to write a newspaper report about road safety outside Hart Memorial. Finally, on Friday, the children read a comprehension and answered questions.
She reminded us of the importance of showing kindness to others, and talked about the positive ripple effect of an act of kindness.
P5D went down to the field to organise the planets into the correct order. They had great fun working together as a class.
