We were delighted to have Laurence, from Hope Community Church, leading our assembly today.

He sang us a song he wrote himself about Jesus, the Sovereign King.

He spoke about the message and significance of Palm Sunday and the amazing events of Easter.

Today, we enjoyed moving our bodies in response to fast and slow music. We then progressed to drawing in response to fast and slow music, using colourful chalk pastels. The boys and girls had lots of fun using this approach to create crazy colourful chicks!

A few weeks ago we enjoyed a visit from our friends in Presentation Primary School after we visited their school the week prior.  We met the boys and girls in the assembly hall to welcome them before bringing them to our classroom where we read the 'Smeds and the Smoos', a lovely Julia Donaldson book.  We played both indoors and outdoors, with the children moving freely between the two which was a nice change. The children then had lunch together in our classroom before we played more games in the assembly hall to finish off our day together.  The children will be able to see the friends they made a couple more times in Term 3 where we will share a class trip and enjoy a fun day hosted in Hart Memorial.

During ABL (Activity Based Learning), the children planted their own sunflower seeds, made a paper and card bird using a muffin case as the base, and dressed up as ‘twitchers’ - people who are very keen bird watchers. The sunflower seeds in their pots have been taken home and should be kept moist.  They can be planted out when the seedlings are strong.  These are the dwarf variety so won’t grow too tall.

We lost an hour this weekend and some of the children were tired so we did some gentle hand massage and gentle fanning as our nurture activities. As always, the children were asked if they gave permission for their partner to touch their hands and extra sensitive moisturising cream was used.

Back in December, we surveyed our parents and guardians on all things 'Hart!'  We asked parents questions regarding their child; their experiences when visiting our school; and what they see the main strengths and areas for development to be in our school.
This data was analysed in January and February and we are now pleased to provide you with the results.  Alongside the results, we have also included comments to answer any queries etc which were raised.  Please read and consider these carefully.
As a school, we were absolutely delighted with the results of the survey and the high regard which you have for our school.
Moving forward, we will be using this data, and many other data sources, to help steer our school for the next 3 years.
May I, on behalf of the whole school community, thank you for your contribution.

Mr A Frizzell

P5D celebrated World Maths Day today as they were away on a trip last Friday. They had a very busy day starting with Mathletics and Times Tables Rock Stars. Then it was into the school hall to complete lots of physical Numeracy activities. The day was finished by working in pairs to work through Numeracy challenges.
