We had a wonderful workshop from the Chinese Confucius Society from the University of Ulster. Yuan came into our classroom and demonstrated how to use chopsticks. She then challenged us to use them to eat popcorn! Some of us found it easier than others, but despite that, all the popcorn was eaten!!! We then did some blow painting of flowers and created some beautiful art work. The last activity in our classroom was learning how to spin a Chinese handkerchief - that was lots of fun!
After the workshop in the classroom, we were treated to an amazing display of Chinese Opera and dance in the hall were we learned all about the 'Changing Faces'. We also learned about the story of Nian and the significance of this for Chinese New Year.
This half term P5D have been learning about lighthouses and during technology they have used their knowledge of circuits to design and make lighthouses.
A team of P7 pupils represented our school at the Credit Union Quiz in Portadown on Friday night. They had tough competition against a number of primary schools in the area. We are delighted to announce that they were the overall winners!!!
They are now through to the next stage in Armagh in March. The team were so happy with the win and we, as teachers in the audience were so proud. 😊
This week we had a visit from Mrs McClelland’s teddies. We found out that Morgan, the biggest teddy is 14 years old, Ted the smallest teddy is 2 years old and Bert, the middle sized teddy is the 45 years old!
Bert and Mrs Heare’s teddy, Donald, got on like a house on fire.
