Our new topic for term 2 is ‘Toys’. This week we have been talking about our favourite toys. Our P1 boys and girls were given the opportunity to bring their favourite toy into school today. Firstly, we enjoyed a circle time, where each child had the opportunity to name and describe their favourite toy and tell the class why it was their favourite. Then we used our toys to complete a sorting task for different criteria, such as hard/soft, big/small, noisy/quiet. After break, we enjoyed completing an observational drawing of our toys. We also discussed how their choice of toys has changed as they have grown from a baby to a child, and why this might be.

Our new topic this term is Toys and to start us off we talked about our favourite toys and sorted these into various categories such as: dolls, vehicles, soft toys, plastic toys and games. We then did some observational drawings of our toys before using oil pastels to colour them.

On Thursday the whole school took part in a fun day. We had to visit lots of different stations with so many great activities!

What a lovely way to end our first term at Nursery. Jo Jingles came to visit- we sang lots of Christmas songs, used the musical instruments, danced and had lots of fun!

The children have been settling into Hart Haven, forming friendships and having fun. We have been covering the curriculum through a wide variety of play activities. We have also been learning how to regulate our emotions and develop our listening skills using the initiatives Nurture in 5 and Six Bricks. The children have thoroughly enjoyed outdoor learning this term where they have had the opportunity to explore, investigate and create their own master piece.
