We have been looking at signs of Autumn in Primary 1. Today we painted beautiful autumn trees. We began by studying pictures of trees and how they change in autumn. We used thick paint brushes for the tree trunk and thin paint brushes for the branches. Then we used corks and sponges to stamp on our autumn leaves using autumn colours.

On Tuesday 10th October, Nigel and Alys from the Ulster Orchestra came into school to perform a concert for P5 and P7. The children learnt all about the different instruments that make up an orchestra and enjoyed listening to Nigel and Alys playing a variety of different pieces of music. Some children then got the opportunity to play instruments and be the conductor. Here are a few photos to show what the children did.

P4 travelled to the Palace Stables today to learn all about apples. We went on the journey of the apple with Paul, watched apples being pressed to make apple juice with Mr Heaney, made our own apple craft with Sylvia and made apple potato bread with cook. Fantastic day was had by all in P4.

What better way to finish off our week on learning all about the letter ‘P’, than with a class party? All week the children have been party planning and making lists. We have been busy writing invitations during literacy, writing about our ages in numeracy, designing birthday cakes, party placemats and party hats during play-based learning and yesterday we decorated biscuits. Today we put up balloons and set our tables for eating our party food. Then we had lots of fun playing party games and revising our sounds. Learning is fun! Today was a fantastic celebration too of how well our children have settled in to Primary 1!
