Yesterday, Wednesday 5th June, we had the pleasure of being able to finally open our newly, refurbished Nurture Room in school.
As a school, we are immensely proud of being able to work towards embedding Nurture and principles of Nurture into our practice, and we are delighted to now have a dedicated classroom, teacher and assistant to carry forward this work.
To open our room, we were delighted to welcome Mr Paul Givan, Education Minister, to our school to officially ‘cut the ribbon.’
The refurbishment of the Nurture Room began in January and was completed after Easter this year.
Mr Givan was accompanied by Mr Michael Leonard, Head of Additional Educational Needs and also admin staff from Stormont. Sean Irving, Regional Manager for Nurture and Alison Dawson, Locality Co-ordinator, were also present.
When Mr Givan arrived, he was welcomed to the school by members of our school council who questioned him on why he wanted to be the Minister of Education and what his priorities are for the years ahead.
Following the opening, our Vice-Chairman, Rev Bill Adair, spoke to the visitors about the work of Nurture in our school and took time to pray regarding the work of Nurture and our whole school community. Mrs White and Mrs Davison showcased our worked with Presentation Primary as part of Shared Education, and Mrs McNally and Mrs Handy finished the time with a presentation regarding the work in our Nurture Classroom.
It really was a lovely afternoon, and we thank the Minister kindly for agreeing to play a special part.
School will now open as normal for all pupils.
School dinners will also be provided, however, the menu may not be as published on the website and your child may want to bring a packed lunch instead.
Clubs which were due to be moved to Wednesday will now be on tomorrow.
Thank you.
The following policies have been added to the school website for consultation:

Consultation is an important aspect of policy implementation whereby stakeholders have the opportunity to contribute to procedures and provision within an particular area of school life.
Please take some time to read the policies and provide feedback using the form on the same web page. The feedback will go directly to Mr Frizzell only. All feedback is helpful, even if it is just to say 'I agree.'
To access these policies, go to 'About Us' tab on the school website and then 'Policy Consultation.'
The above policies will be up for 2 weeks from Wednesday 29th May 2024.
Thank you.
Please arrange holidays for times of school closure as holidays during term time cannot be authorised.
