We had a brilliant time visiting the Waterfront Hall to explore, 'Our Wonderful World' through music. We have been learning about different instruments and what family they are in. The children loved using their knowledge to hear the instruments played by the Ulster Orchestra.

P4AK had great fun learning about Fairytales in Literacy this week. We have planned and written alternative endings to, 'Little Red Riding Hood.' We have been learning about the different elements needed to write Fairytales including endings, characters (good and evil) and settings. On Wednesday we created some Tableaux in groups to represent a scene from a chosen Fairytale. Check out the photos!

The boys and girls in P4AK took part in a workshop on Cyberbullying today. We found out what Cyberbullying is, thought about how we would feel if we were being bullied and looked at scenarios of what to do if someone was bullying us. Thanks to Amanda from REIM for delivering this very important workshop.

It is hard to believe that the new academic year is just around the corner!  I hope that everyone has had a super, restful break, and is ready to begin a new school year.
In preparation for coming back, please be reminded of some arrangements for the new school year.

Back to School

Pupils from P2-7 return to school on Wednesday 28th August; they will finish on this day at 12noon.  This will be the case for Thursday 29th August and Friday 30th August.  Pupils should have a healthy snack with them on these days.  There will be no school dinners on these days.

Full school days, with school dinners, will begin on Monday 2nd September.  Arrangements for Nursery and Primary 1 children are different and have been shared separately – please contact the class teacher if you are unsure of anything.

Meet the Teacher

This year, we are changing the format of our ‘meet the teacher event.’  On Thursday 29th August, parents are invited into school from 12:30pm to 2:30pm to go and meet their child/ren’s new teacher. Teachers will be in their rooms, with a handout regarding key information about their class, and parents are welcome to visit and collect this/meet with the teacher.  This will be an informal, drop-in event and parents are welcome to arrive at any time.

Uniform

Please ensure that your child is in the correct school uniform for their first day.

Our school uniform can be purchased from local suppliers including, C&G Embroidery, Jameson’s and Davidson’s. Please ensure that all items of clothing have the pupil’s name.

The uniform is the same for both boys and girls:

Round-neck/V-neck school jumper with the logo

Black tracksuit bottoms (sweatshirt material with cuffed legs)

Please note, bottoms must be plain black and should not have any branding or lines, except the school logo, if desired.

Bottoms with the school logo can be purchased from C&G Embroidery.

Yellow polo t-shirt with logo

Plain Black trainers
