January was an exciting month of learning! We explored the world of agamograph art, creating vibrant masterpieces using warm and cool colors.
In literacy, we engaged with speech bubbles to enhance our storytelling skills. Our pirate-themed fiction and non-fiction books ignited our imaginations, inspiring us to design our own pirate flags. We also delved into fascinating pirate facts.
In numeracy, we honed our map-reading skills and went on treasure hunts, hiding and finding treasures. With iZak 9, we tackled problem-solving challenges, sharpening our critical thinking abilities.
Congratulations to our certificate winners! We were very proud to receive the certificate for KS1 Mathletes of the Month! Keep up the fantastic work!

We had great fun acting out our Big Book story for this week, The Three Billy Goat Gruff.

We had to remember what each character said and the way they said it. Some actors were so expressive!

Both P5 Classes were treated to a Science Workshop on Solar Energy, which took place in our Assembly Hall. Peter explained in great detail the benefits of Solar Energy to the boys and girls. His knowledge and expertise enabled the children to work in groups to create a working Windmill type tower. Every group managed to get their tower working using a mini solar panel. Thank you to Peter and Sentinus for giving us this opportunity!

We were so fortunate to have representatives from the Confucius Institute with us today as part of World around Us topic. They showcased Chinese dance and music with the traditional gû zhēng instrument. We then went back to the classroom to take part in a workshop where we made Chinese dragons and created some amazing artwork involving paint blowing and Ming vases.

P4 enjoyed a fantastic and very informative visit from Hannah from the WW2 Museum in Belfast. It was great to hear more about life in Northern Ireland during 1939-1945 and to look at some of the objects that she brought with her.

We had a look outside at the trees around our school and how the weather feels when it is Winter. We noticed that the leaves had fallen off the trees so that the branches were bare.  The next day we made watched Mrs Agnew tear some strips of black paper to make the different sizes of the trunk, branches and twigs.  Once we glued these on, we added some finger print snow during play.
