We had some fantastic book character costumes worn today in Primary 1 to celebrate World Book Day! Each child was invited to bring their favourite story book to school today and we enjoyed a lovely reading time on the carpet before drawing our favourite character. We also designed a book mark to bring home. Lots of boys and girls entered the school’s Book Character competition, decorating a potato/toilet roll tube to look like a book character. Well done to everyone who entered and a special congratulations to Vilte, our prize winner!
We had a lovely trip to the museum today. The boys and girls got to see and try out all the old toys along with making one of their own.
Our boys and girls have been enjoying a wide variety of outdoor play activities so far this term.
A huge well done and thank you to all the boys and girls and everyone who helped them at home to make their junk art toy. We did show and tell with these and the children told us all how they made them and what items from the recycling they used. The children were so proud of their creations.
We made our Winter trees using scrap pieces of black paper and tearing them to create the trunk, branches and twigs. We also discussed how most trees in Winter do not have any leaves. The boys and girls added snow to their trees by printing with bubble wrap. This part was a little messy but lots of fun.
Today P1 visited the Navan Centre in Armagh to see Santa. We had a fantastic fun-filled day out watching a Christmas show, listening to a Christmas story, making a Christmas decoration and enjoying a yummy snack while singing songs with a Christmas elf! A magical experience! 🎄
During a circus skills workshop this week we enjoyed learning how spin plates and juggle. We were also instructed on how to use a Diablo and dancing sticks. Well done P1, everyone tried really hard and had lots of fun!
The children have been working hard on creating beautiful Owl Baby collages using a variety of different materials. We start out with pastels for the branch before using cotton wool to create the fluffy owl and finishing off with our beak, eyes and nose.
We have enjoyed sketching autumn leaves, observational painting of apples and printing autumn trees.
