We have been learning about Roman soldiers as part of our  WAU topic for term 3. Roman soldiers were well trained and equipped and had very good weapons, one of which was the Onager, a type of catapult used to hurl projectiles. We made our own versions  this week and had great fun seeing how far we could hurl our paper balls. Earlier on this term we used a tuning fork to make sound vibrations splashed water. This was also great fun.

We met with our friends from Presentation at the People’s Park for our annual fun day last week. We were enjoying the various activities organised by Healthy Kidz until the weather took a turn for the worst and we had to leave early. We look forward to meeting up with  our friends again next year.

We had a great day yesterday on our trip to The Ark. We met the Meer Cats, fed the alpacas and got to handle baby chicks and guinea pigs. We had a lovely time, as you can see from the photos.

We were blessed with beautiful sunny weather for our Sports Day this year. The children completed their seven events with great enthusiasm and parents and friends enjoyed themselves as they spectated. Congratulations to all  and especially our prize winners.

Yesterday we met Matthew, the tax collector, a Samaritan lady, Mary Magdalene and, most exciting of all, a Roman Centurion, who were all characters in the Amazing Journey. We learnt about how Jesus played an important role in their life journeys and how their lives were changed by meeting with Jesus.
We also got to dress up in the type of clothes worn in bible times and try out some foods eaten back then. We really had a very interesting and informative afternoon. It was also great to see a Roman soldier and examine his weapons and uniform as we are learning about the Romans in our latest WAU topic.
