This year for Mother’s Day we decided to surprise our mums by writing them a letter and posting it. The children enjoyed learning how to write a letter, address an envelope and add a stamp. Then we walked to the post box to post our letters. It was a fun learning experience. We also made and painted pots so our mums had a little gift on their special day.

Today, James from the AMMA centre came to teach us how to add sound to Book Creator. We based our books on the Blitz. The children recorded their titles and poems with sound effects. They had great fun doing this and it was great for them to be able to add their own art and literacy work in a digital format.

We welcomed some well known book characters into our room today. See if you can guess who visited! Also, the children were very creative in their ‘decorate a spud’ and ‘decorate a toilet roll’ competition. The winner was Paulina, who made a fab Max, from the Hodgeheg.

This afternoon we went on a scavenger hunt based on using our 5 Senses, which is our new WAU topic. The children had lots of fun recording what they saw, heard, touched and smelled. Taste had to wait until we returned to the classroom for a drink of water and a jelly bean!

P4S travelled to Portadown Town Hall this morning to take part in the Choral Speaking class at the festival. They recited ‘Pirate Pete’ and ‘Daddy Fell into the Pond’. The children had worked really hard to learn these two poems and say them very expressively, so they were delighted to be awarded 3rd place. They each received a lovely bronze medal for their hard work.
