We had a great day today celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III. The children looked fab in their red, white and blue as they paraded around the locality waving their hand made flags and it was lovely to see so many from the local community supporting them. We enjoyed a picnic lunch before heading to the field for some treats and ending off our celebrations with an A Capella version of the National Anthem. A very special word of thanks to Ruth’s mum for providing us with a fantastic cake for an amazing day.

Our WAU topic this term has been ‘Our Senses’ and the children have enjoyed learning about how important our senses are for perceiving the world around us. We have investigated our sense of smell and taste recently and also had great fun watching sound waves from a tuning fork make water splash.

Today we made Easter Bunny masks from paper plates, straws, card and other materials. Everyone’s mask was very different and we enjoyed modelling them before taking them home. It was very hard to work out who was behind each bunny!

This year for Mother’s Day we decided to surprise our mums by writing them a letter and posting it. The children enjoyed learning how to write a letter, address an envelope and add a stamp. Then we walked to the post box to post our letters. It was a fun learning experience. We also made and painted pots so our mums had a little gift on their special day.
