This month we having been learning all about Autumn. After reading the story of Clifford’s Big Leaf Pile we had fun brushing up the leaves in the Nursery garden, making our own leaf pile and then jumping in, listening to all the leaves crunching. We also carved out a pumpkin and mixed together red and yellow paint to make orange and then painted pictures of our pumpkin. For snack we made and enjoyed stewed apple and custard, it was yummy! Have a look at all photographs to see what else we have been up too.

There has been lots of excitement this month preparing for Christmas.  We have made our own salt dough decorations; making the dough, rolling it, cutting out Christmas shapes, cooking them, painting them and adding a little sparkle to finish them off! We have also made beautiful glittering stars to hang on our Christmas trees.  With Christmas fast approaching we were practising wrapping presents; carefully using scissors to cut the paper and then wrap it around boxes. It was a little bit tricky holding the paper and sticking it down with sellotape but we enjoyed working together with our friends which made it whole lot easier! We then put the presents under our Christmas tree in Nursery.  We also painted Christmas pictures, made model snowmen, sorted bows, cooked Christmas dinner in the home corner, made chimneys for Santa and lots more!

This month we printed firework pictures, talked about our houses, learnt about bears and lots more! One of the stories we really enjoyed was ‘Goldilocks & The Three Bears’.  We had lots of fun retelling the story and acting it out in the home corner, making porridge which was just perfect for our snack and wheaten bread as well as making big, middle sized and small bears using play dough and painting pictures of bears.

We have enjoyed learning all about Autumn.  We have collected lots of different colours and shapes of leaves, brown conkers and spiky fir cones.  We have also been learning about fruit and vegetables and have had fun printing with them.  For one of our healthy snacks we had vegetable sticks and dips.  Outside we have been very busy brushing up the leaves in the Nursery garden and made a big leaf pile, then had lots of fun counting 1,2,3 and jumping in making the leaves go crunch! We carved out a pumpkin and then mixed yellow and red paint together to make orange so we could paint our own pumpkin pictures.  Have a look to see all the other fun things we have got up to.

We have had a very busy month learning about mini-beasts.  We went on a mini-beast hunt in our nursery garden and found millipedes, wood louse, wriggly worms, slugs, snails and spiders.  We also found lots of snails in our own gardens at home and brought them into nursery where we set up a snail house.  We observed how the snails moved very slowly leaving lots of slimy, silvery trails.  We have enjoyed painting butterfly and snail pictures, making mini-beasts using recyclable materials as well as having fun making a spider's web in the sand tray and a wibbly wobbly jelly pond for frogs.
