P7 have been learning about the Titanic, and recently investigated the varying types of water pressure. When the Titanic hit the iceberg, it caused a tear in the iron frame that allowed up to 7 tons of water in a second. As the tear was at the deepest part of the ship, it was susceptible to the heaviest water pressure, and because a huge amount of water flooded the ship is the reason it sank. We experimented with pressure in a water container with the water at the deepest part causing the greatest pressure. As you can see from the photos, the children really enjoyed it.

Primary 7 had a great afternoon experimenting with cold water. They were tasked to consider the effects of cold water on the human body. Some predicted you would shiver, some thought your skin would change colour and some said you would be in shock. When Titanic sunk, most people died because of the coldness rather than drowning under the water. A sad thought but one we would be looking at in more detail with this experiment. Children enjoyed placing their hands in cold water to see how it affected their dexterity and movement while building Jenga blocks. We all concluded that cold water did indeed make a big difference to the human body. Pupils did a great job and really enjoyed it. As you can see from the pictures, the cold water had quite the impact. Well done, P7 🙂

For the first time in three years, P7T were able to complete their 'Play in a Day'. Hannah from Konflux Theatre led pupils through a playscript all about Internet Safety. This topic was chosen because of its importance for pupils. The play acted as a fantastic reminder for pupils to stop, block and tell if a stranger contacts them online. As well as that, it helped to improve listening skills and their drama abilities. Pupils did a great job working with Hannah, and as you can see from the pictures, had a lot of fun.
