On Wednesday 28th February P5D had two very special visitors in class. Mrs White brought her dog, Bobby into visit P5D. Bobby had a lovely afternoon walking around the room and getting lots of attention from everyone. P5D learnt about how to look after a dog, what we need to do to keep a dog happy and how to stay safe around dogs.
The arrangements relate to dressing up and also a whole-school competition (including Nursery).
Let's use WBD to encourage our children with their reading and its importance!
We were delighted to have Reverend William Orr speaking to us in assembly today.
He has reached the letter C in his talks and spoke about Joseph’s Coat.
He reminded us of the importance of not having favourites and to do our best to involve everyone in our fun and games. We should always be aware of anyone that might be isolated or feeling left out.
We closed with our new worship song, 10,000 Reasons.
P5D pupils have worked extremely hard this half term to complete an iMovie in groups about saving electricity in both their homes and at school. Here are two of the finished masterpieces. Congratulations to all the boys and girls for working on their ICT task and creating such informative and interesting films - one of them has a special guest featuring in the film! Can you spot who he is?
P5D are working hard this half term to design and make an iMovie linked to the WAU topic ‘Energy Sources’. As part of the WAU topic they have been looking at how we can save energy both in school and at home. On a planning board P5 worked in groups to plan what they would record, who would record it and what they would say. Once the planning boards were complete they have started to record in various locations around school. When all recordings are compete they are now able to start creating the iMovie. Here are some photos to show what they have been doing.
On Tuesday 16th January P5D had a visit from the education team at NI Water. They came to talk to the boys and girls about the need to conserve the water we have and try to look after the environment by not wasting water and only putting three things down the toilet. They were given a booklet about the water cycle, a sand timer to try and encourage them to have a 4 minute shower and also a tag they could put on the water stop tap at home.
Technology investigation this half term is to build a working lighthouse. P5D have started the process of using a variety of materials to make a lighthouse that has a working lightbulb and switch. The photos show the progress so far. More photos to follow when they have used wires, batteries, bulbs and switches to make a circuit that lights up the bulb for the top of the lighthouse.
