This half term P5DK have been learning about electricity and energy sources in WAU. They have studied different types of lighthouses and had a go a drawing and sketching them. When they were happy with their drawing they used watercolour pencils to colour the lighthouse and background. Here are some photographs to show what they did.
P5DK went on a school trip to W5 in Belfast on Tuesday 26th November. They had a fantastic day which involved going on CLIMBIT, visiting the GO, SEE, DO exhibitions, SPACEBASE and taking part in some interesting science experiments. As part of the WAU topic Space, P5DK enjoyed using a saw, wood, glue gun and other materials to make a space mobile in groups of 3. The children had to plan what it would look like, make a list of materials they would need and tools. Here are some photographs to show the children making them and the finished products.
This half term P5DK are studying a new WAU topic - Space. They have started to look at all the different planets that are in the Solar System. Using chalk pastels the children have tried to recreate what the planet looks like from photos they found online.
P5DK enjoyed decorating some Halloween biscuits before they finished for half term. We talked about the importance of staying safe over the week and making sure they wore bright clothes in the early morning and evening due to the dark mornings and nights.
Awarded class of the month for October 2019 with the highest number of points earned for completing assigned tasks linked to topics taught in Numeracy. Well done P5DK!
P5DK carried out an investigation to work out which how best to preserve an apple from decaying. They used salt, sugar and vinegar in three separate bags with apples and left then for 3 weeks in the same cupboard. This year P5DK are using the music scheme called Charanga. They have enjoyed learning to sing Mama Mia and also how to play a variety of different percussion instruments. Here are a few photos and a video to show how they are getting on.
We had a very special visitor in P5DK today who had travelled back in time from Ancient Egypt. Tuti had a wonderful morning showing all the children lots of interesting artefacts and teaching them all about life during Ancient Egyptian times. Here are some photos for you to see what they did.
